Blair Cullen, born October 15, 1776 as Bogumil Šwartz in Bohemia, is a prominent figure within the Federal Office for Magical Creatures (BAfMW). Cullen is currently active de facto as the Commissioner for Equality and Gender Affairs. The position is formally still held by Dr. Irmintraut-Huberta Blitze-Wölklein, whose absence has been ongoing for a long time. However, in the practical performance of duties, Cullen has established himself as a key authority.
After his birth in Bohemia, Šwartz grew up in a craft-oriented environment where the art of glass processing played a central role. This knowledge would later be of considerable importance for his further life path. Due to migration-related changes, he left Europe and emigrated to the United States of America, where he eventually settled in the small town of Forks.

There, he had a formative encounter with a vegetarian vampire family who took him into their community, initiating his transformation into a vampire. Cullen subsequently combined this new form of existence with his craftsmanship and a pronounced aesthetic sensibility.
Based on his knowledge, he developed the internationally renowned brand “Blairovsky”, characterized by the processing of glass and crystalline materials in a particularly light-reflecting form. Under the motto “Nunc est glitzerandum”, the brand established itself as a style-defining element, particularly within the LGB community. Blair Cullen succeeded in transferring glitter as an aesthetic and identity-forming principle into new social contexts.
His work is characterized by the combination of traditional craftsmanship with innovative material concepts. He deliberately draws on historical processes and reactivates long-forgotten materials, including uranium glass, which he introduces to a new creative use. The resulting objects, particularly tiaras, rings, and body chains, are considered characteristic of his style and receive international attention.
Blair Cullen’s artistic talent also earned him an appointment as an adjunct honorary professor with teaching authorization at the renowned Trier University of Applied Sciences – Idar-Oberstein Campus, where he teaches students in the Bachelor’s degree program “Gemstone and Jewelry (BFA)”.
Parallel to his artistic and craft activities, Blair Cullen developed into a recognized personality within the magical administration. At the Federal Office for Magical Creatures, he initially took on tasks in various areas before finally being entrusted with the leadership of Department 9. This occurred after the unexplained disappearance of the previous head, Dr. Irmintraut-Huberta Blitze-Wölklein, whose formal incumbency as Commissioner for Equality and Gender Affairs continues.
In his role as de facto Equality Commissioner, Cullen pursues a pragmatic yet life-world-oriented approach. His well-known motto
“If a vampire is no longer allowed to glitter, what meaning does life still have?”
was interpreted within the presidium and the staff council as a concise summary of a new direction and contributed significantly to his unanimous appointment to the position.
Under his leadership, the previously somewhat critically evaluated department underwent a reprofiling, particularly with regard to a stronger integration of various magical life forms. This included, among others, gay vampires, werewolves, and demons, who had previously felt insufficiently represented by certain theoretical orientations of the queer theory practiced by Irmintraut-Huberta Blitze-Wölklein.
In his private life, Cullen is also involved in a partnership with a werewolf, whose identity is not publicly disclosed at his own request. This connection is regarded within the authority as an expression of interspecies understanding and contributes to the positive perception of his person.
Blair Cullen combines craft tradition, aesthetic innovation, and administrative design competence. Through his work, he has significantly contributed to realigning the equality and gender affairs within the Federal Office for Magical Creatures and simultaneously imbuing it with a distinct cultural character.
